A02 Groll: Positioning, association and maturation of subunits during 20S proteasome assembly in pro- and eukaryotes
Proteolytic degradation is an essential cellular process, which is primarily carried out by the 20S proteasome core particle (CP). Carefully regulated assembly of CPs is essential to ensure correct positioning and functioning of each subunit. Our proposed project A02 will discover subunit positioning and conformational switches in early and late proteasome assembly intermediates, which will contribute to a better understanding of sophisticated proteasome biogenesis from prokaryotes to eukaryotes.
