AP02 Zimmer/Haslbeck: Alternative Splicing – switching and conformational diversity

This project analyses effects of splicing events on the conformation and function of different proteins and their role within gene regulation, metabolic and signal transduction networks. We will do large-scale bioinformatics surveys of splicing structures and detailed biochemical characterisations of selected interesting proteins relevant for the CRC with respect to structural switches, conformational diversity, and functional changes implied by splicing. Exon chip, next generation sequencing, and SILAC mass spectrometry measurements complement the structural and functional characterisation of isoforms on the cellular level.
